Prophylaxis, home care and your bonus booklet
Dear patient,
what you do at home prevents more treatment than anything we can do at the practice. Here is what actually matters — and why your bonus booklet is worth real money.
What actually matters at home
-
·
Twice a day, two minutes
Duration matters more than pressure. Scrubbing too hard damages the gums and the necks of the teeth.
-
·
Always the same sequence
Electric or manual is secondary. Method is what counts: never skip an area.
-
·
Between the teeth, once a day
A brush reaches only three of five tooth surfaces. Floss or an interdental brush does the rest — that is where most decay starts.
-
·
Fluoride toothpaste
In the evening, spit but do not rinse. The fluoride then keeps working for longer.
-
·
Wait thirty minutes after acid
Straight after fruit, juice or wine the enamel is briefly soft. Brushing immediately wears it away.

Professional cleaning and the bonus booklet
1
What we remove
Calculus and deposits below the gum line cannot be reached at home. That is exactly where every case of periodontitis begins.
2
What you take away
After the cleaning we show you the spots your home routine consistently misses. That is the real value of the appointment.
3
How often
Twice a year for most adults. More often with periodontitis, implants or smoking — we set the interval together.
The bonus booklet — free, often forgotten
- One check-up recorded per calendar year is enough.
- After five unbroken years your fixed subsidy for prosthetics rises, and again after ten years.
- A single missed year resets the count.
- Children and teenagers up to 18 are expected to attend twice a year.
For children
- Brush from the first tooth; first check-up from the first birthday.
- Until school age parents brush again afterwards — fine motor control is not there yet.
- Individual prophylaxis from age six: brushing training, fluoridation, sealing of permanent molars.
- Book parent and child appointments back to back; one trip is enough.
Your next step
Bring your bonus booklet to every appointment — we stamp it on the spot. If this year has no entry yet, book the check-up now: 0211 570 025.
Two minutes a day saves many hours in the chair.
